Small but funky – the Mini! Shortly after its “birth” in the year 1959 the Mini captured the heart of many a driving enthusiast. In 1964 it became a film star along side Peter Sellers. And where would the legendary Mr. Bean – Rowan Atkinson – be without his grass-green Mini? Even England’s Queen Elizabeth discovered an affection for the Mini and was, at times, chauffeured around in one. And indeed in the world of motor racing the small Mini was a big name: the famous Austrian racing driver Niki Lauda celebrated his first motor racing successes in this cult-car! A yearly reunion rally for Mini enthusiasts is proof of its popularity. The Mini’s sporty image is maintained by events like the “Mini Challenge” with participants such as Cora Schuhmacher.
The Mini Reincarnation
The last old model mini left the production line in the year 2000. BMW developed a new edition of the coveted model in 2001. Today the popular automobiles are produced in England. So much to the history of this small car which isn’t just a car but a lifestyle statement!
