Village Life and Culture in Fuschl am See
We are glad to be from Fuschl. And we love our traditions and our culture. Retained authentically for centuries, constantly looking to the future but not forgetting the past. We are happy to be able to share this culture with you. Church festivals are celebrated together with the local associations, and village festivals often follow important religious celebrations.
There is a very strong bond between Fuschl am See’s brass band and the Hotel Mohrenwirt. The band’s first official performance took place in 1929 to celebrate the re-opening of the guesthouse “Zum Mohren”. The then proprietor, Jakob Schmidlechner, was also the bandmaster of the newly founded “Trachtenmusikkapelle” from Fuschl am See!
A broad spectrum of regional culture is demonstrated in the “Fuschler Klangwoche 2007 - Fuschl Music Weeks”. From May to August the events in the village range from the summer exhibition and classic or jazz concerts to village fetes and the consecration of the parish church of Fuschl am See.
Tradition and Culture in the Salzkammergut
There is such rich variety in the traditional festivals and cultural events organised in the Salzkammergut Lake District that books have been written about them! Church festivals throughout the year dominate the course of events and flower festivals, processions and village fetes complement these.
Something very special to the Salzkammergut region are the “Perchten” – In a costume of fur and scary wooden masks these beautifully fearsome figures run through the streets during Advent, driving away evil spirits – visiting a Prechten Run is an unforgettable experience!
The celebrations at Christmas and Easter are particularly traditional and moving. The churches are decorated and filled with glorious music. Of course the music of Mozart, Salzburg’s music genius, is often performed.
The World Heritage City of Salzburg
In the City of Salzburg, just 25 kilometres from Fuschl am See, you can choose between a multitude of exhibitions, concerts and theatre performances. The Easter Festival or “Osterfestspiele” in spring and the Salzburg Festival “Salzburger Festspiele” in July and August enjoy the very best reputation all over the world and attract international artist to Salzburg.
